Where the $ Goes
We began the International Calendar Project in 1987 to share Peace Corps experiences with our home communities and to raise money for grassroots projects in the countries where we served or in which we live. The first International Calendar appeared in 1988.
The photos in the calendar are windows into our memories that introduce you to the people who welcomed us so warmly into their communities. Plus, nearly every day features interesting or important festivals, birthdays, holidays and holy days celebrated around the world.
The International Calendar is more than just another annual time marker with pretty pictures. It is also designed as a teaching aid, introducing varied lifestyles, terrain, foods, occupations, and crafts from around the world. The calendar website has cultural information specific to each country, including, books, film, music, and foods. Each year we provide calendars to teachers who participate in Peace Corps’ Paul D. Coverdell World Wise Schools program.
The calendar features countries in which the Peace Corps is currently active or has been hosted in the past.
To submit photos or learn where to buy the current calendar, please visit the official RPCV International Calendar website.
