Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Wisconsin – Madison Grant Summary June 2011

The Peace Corps Office of Private Sector Initiatives (OPSI) received a $70,000 donation from the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Wisconsin – Madison in October 2009. The donation was allocated to the Peace Corps Partnership Program’s Global Special Fund and allocated throughout the year to PCPP projects and country funds as selected by the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Wisconsin – Madison.

Since October 2009, $63,889.12 has been allocated to 85 PCPP projects in 35 Peace Corps countries. Of the original donation, a total of $6,110.88 remains in three country funds: $2,957 in the Benin Country Fund; $1,274.66 in the Mali Country Fund; and $1,879.22 in the Burkina Faso Country Fund. These funds will be distributed to PCPP projects at the discretion of the country directors.

The total project cost for these 85 PCPP projects was $627,129. While communities must contribute 25% of the total project cost, local communities actually contributed $320,365 – roughly 52%. The contribution received from the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Wisconsin – Madison helped leverage over $242,915 in funding from other donors for these PCPP projects.

The Office of Private Sector Initiatives report details the Projects we contributed to.

The RPCVs of Wisconsin sent $50,000 to the Office of Private Sector Initiatives in October 2011. We still need to designate about $15,000 in Peace Corps Partnership Projects by the end of September 2012.
